[GRLUG] 2TB HDD

I've have mixed-luck with just about every drive out there, and have concluded the warranty period is the best feature on most disks.

We have 30+ Seagate 2TB Constellation ES drives in our servers, only had to return 2 in the past 2 years. We've also had 5 ( of 10) Seagate 1.5 TB disks arrive DOA! We seem to lose a Seagate 500GB SATA disk every month, though they're all over 3 years old.

I've had good luck with the WD Caviar black 1TB disks (only replaced 1 of 12) in the past 2 or 3 years. Then there's the old Maxtor 250GB SATA drives - 40+ disks running for 6 years non-stop!

The only linux-based issue I've experienced is with GRUB and GPT partitions schemes, which may be fixed in more recent OS versions.

Regards,
Scott

No issues here... Western Digital AV-GP WD20EVDS 2TB SATA 3.0Gb/s.

The WD 2TB has been solid but was not cheep. I'm not doing SATA III
though either. Could that be an issue for some people? I haven't heard
much good about the "green" drives though.

Get on newegg.com's mailing list and they are always having specials on
them. For a popular drive your sure to get user reviews from Linux
users too.
