(Seemed like a good idea for a discussion, so I split it off.)
Now? Nothing. Though we primarily develop Windows software at work,
we primarily use Linux for our servers, and 75% of the company uses
Linux at both work and home.
When I was in college, I used Linux in the Computer Club, and got
other club members involved and interested in it.
In high school, well, I was too much of an advocate; People started
ignoring everything I was saying, so I had to tone it down.
In my opinion, advocating Linux by example, and helping those who
express an interest, is sufficient. If someone wants to use Windows,
and can afford it, I won't stop them. If they can't afford it, well,
I've converted more than a few Windows users to Linux by price
argument alone.
