Sorry, but that is definitely NOT true. Illustrator (and probably other
Adobe tools) does some crazy stuff - PDFs created often have mucked up
fonts - have seen it before.

Most like Adobe trying to prove that if you use PDF technology, you have
to use Adobe tools and pay their tithe for it to work properly.
