[GRLUG] Are ssd drives worth it?

I have a laptop with double boot sata drive. (Ubuntu & win 7)

Is it worth it to consider ssd?
If so how easy is it to copy/clone all the partitions. Or do I need to a reinstall?
Brands to consider / avoid?
Or just wait longer?
