I have a Motorola amp that works great on comcast for video but I too had a service tech tell me that it doesn't help data at all.

I had a service guy tell me yearsago that you, the customer, cannotboost the data signal with an amplifier.The company can attenuate the signal,and this sometimes needs to be done 
to keep the signal strength within thelimits of the cable modem. In fact, aguy came to my place one time anddid just that.
I'd guess that if Charter can't fix you
up, you can't be fixed - so to speak.

Has anyone tried to hookup Charter with more than one or two cable drops? I'd like to switch here, but we have four cable drops (and I would like to add two) - there seems to be no way to get enough signal for the cable modem. Tried a Leviton distribution amplifier, but it DNW with digital cable..
