Gnome Shell is not really going back to Gnome(2). Gnome Shell uses
Gnome3 (as does Unity in 11.10) and is as different from Gnome2 as
Unity is. Gnome Shell is what every other Gnome-based distro is moving
to, so it is the new way for everything except Ubuntu.
