My experience dates back a few years to the end of 2003, at which time
the LTSP people were preparing a newer version, but it was in the
preliminary stages, so I stuck with the then current release - sorry,
I can't rememeber the version numbers.

The environment was LTSP bolted onto SuSE 7.3 replicated at various
educational sites having from 6 to 8 clients to a max of 22 to 25, all
booting via pxe, over 100 mbit/s ethernet, each client having 256MB of
RAM. The extending circumstance was that the cients were required to
run full screen flash video animation with audio. Although the
animation was no where close to what would be required in a gaming
application (motion was mostly limited to mouths and arms moving on
two otherwise stationary characters), the network would saturate at
about 6 - 8 stations.

Due to time pressures, we ended going to installing hd's in all the
stations at the larger sites and abandoning LTSP there. Just after
that, I did some brief testing with the terminal server under the then
current version of Knoppix, which seemed to run the flash on the thin
client rather than the server, which avoided saturating the network.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to sort it all out and get the
Knoppix adaptation implemented, which was quite disappointing.
