I have run RedHat at work for a few years. In the older versions,
through at least 7.3, the -X option was the default. By the time it got
to ES and AS, the default was -x (small x).

Here is what I get.

The question is, do you have forwarding configured on, by default? The
method I showed works without it. The "-C" option is only to turn on
compression.
