LILO versions have no affect. 22.8 and 22.7.3 (my most common) have
the same effect.
FWIW, the version that failed me is 22.7.3, I have the same version on
the older intel board w/o active partitions
and it boot fine.
I do believe that the Board/BIOS is the underlying cause. But if you
follow the LILO instructions, making the partition active
(as I did NOT) than you'll have no worries.
