[GRLUG] file retrieval problem

Yes, windows does do that, and it's called the recycle bin. If your 
recycle bin is empty then the files were not saved. However, by default 
windows puts things in the RB instead of directly deleting them. The 
exception is when you cut and paste. If something interfered with the 
process you still should have all of the files that were not transferred 
but something could always go wrong.
