Yes, for a GOOD teacher that is not unreasonable and in fact could be
considered a bit low. Unfortunately teachers have little incentive to be
good as their pay is not based on performance and it is very difficult
to fire a teacher unless you catch them with a jar of vasoline, a
saddle, and a small child. Now, I've known some great teachers who
aren't getting the money they deserve. They love teaching. Then there
are worthless piles of human waste that still are allowed to teach
children and they don't deserve to suck the mud off of a coal miner's
boots. Not to be too inflammatory but I also know plenty of moms who
homeschool and most of them do a better job than these teachers we pay
50k a year to. If a housewife can teach children better then a
professional then what on Earth is going on???

What gets me are teacher strikes. Yeah, 50k probably isn't too much for
a good teacher. But they become not so good in a hurry if they are
willing to strike instead of teach. It is absolutely unethical to strike
period but even more so when the economy is tanking and the state's
funding is lowering year by year. And doubly so when they are teachers
and we rely on them to educate our children. Where is that extra money
to pay them supposed to come from? The union sure doesn't care. It's
more, more, more, more.

I have ZERO respect for people who strike. In my opinion the whole lot
of them should be fired regardless of what job they do. Too bad that's
illegal. I have no problem with paying good people to do a job that they
are capable of doing. But unions prop up losers and ruin companies.
