Interesting...  haven't had corroded cable contacts keep a machine
from booting, but I suppose it's possible...  depends on what it's
plugged into I guess.  SCSI controller perhaps...

Anyway, I think I mentioned that corroded contacts with boards /
memory / CPUs cause boot problems all the time.  Sometimes it's as
simple as removing everything and re-inserting it.  Peripheral slots
and memory have self-cleaning contacts, so the act of re-inserting the
device (be it once or a few times) can improve performance.
