I have the 8Mbps Comcast cable service. I routinely
get 600Kbps to 800 Kbps when uploading, and 6Mbps
to 8Mbps down. If I run two or more ftp jobs to move
files aournd I almost always get the full bit rate up and
down.
I'm somewhat hard put to believe that a 1.5Mbps DSL
connection can match this. I had SBC DSL for a year
or more, and while I did get the 1.5Mbps rate when using
ftp, I saw nothing to suggest that in any magical way
the performance was equivalent to my current 8Mbps
connection.
