I'm experiencing about 30% packet loss in bunches (it'll work fine for a time, then bam, no network, then it's back). The network card is integrated into the motherboard. I'm thinking about buying an add-on network card, but what is the likelihood I'm going to face more problems? Should I spring for a new motherboard? -- J-T From grlug at grlug.org Wed Mar 20 08:32:02 2019 From: grlug at grlug.org (Grand Rapids Linux Users Group) Date: Wed, 20 Mar 2019 08:32:02 -0400 Subject: [GRLUG] HP workstation hardware issue In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On Wed, 2019-03-20 at 07:17 -0400, Grand Rapids Linux Users Group wrote: > My HP Z600 workstation has developed a problem with networking. My z600 gave it up some time ago; it started having all kinds of memory errors no matter how I attempted to rearrange the DIMMS. That might be the DIMMS, or it might be the motherboard, but I am willing to offer up mine as spare parts if you'd like to try. -- Executive Committee Chair Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers 537 Shirley St NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503-1754 Phone: 616.581.8010 E-mail: awilliam at whitemice.org GPG#D95ED383 From grlug at grlug.org Wed Mar 20 10:28:18 2019 From: grlug at grlug.org (Grand Rapids Linux Users Group) Date: Wed, 20 Mar 2019 10:28:18 -0400 Subject: [GRLUG] HP workstation hardware issue In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On Wed, Mar 20, 2019 at 08:32:02AM -0400, Grand Rapids Linux Users Group wrote: > On Wed, 2019-03-20 at 07:17 -0400, Grand Rapids Linux Users Group > wrote: > > My HP Z600 workstation has developed a problem with networking. Worst case, networking works but with memory errors (leaving me back at buying a new motherboard). I'm willing to try. Thanks for the offer, Adam. -- J-T ----- Absurdity, n.: A statement or belief manifestly inconsistent with one's own opinion. Ambrose Bierce, (1842-1914) "The Devil's Dictionary"
