A PostgreSQL instance on a Windows box using the Windows ODBC driver
via Foreign Data Wrappers <https://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Foreign_dat
a_wrappers>.

A database engine supporting SQL/MED can solve a lot of data access
issues.
