[GRLUG] Email testing w/sasl

Look in the sasl/smtp.conf file, you may be using PAM as a pwcheck method.
For shits and giggles, can you add a new user (not a local user) with
saslpasswd -c -u
and test that user with
smtptest -u UserName -r domainName
