I do this because I try different distros / releases.  Sometimes the 
config files between distros / releases are at different levels and the 
app will complain if it finds something it does not expect to be there, 
so I find it easier to just have a clean home directory after an os install.

There are only a few files I need (iceweasel, icedove mainly) anyway so 
I find this quicker than delete dot hidden files.
