There _is_ a solution, and it's a wireless router, running OpenWRT.
These days, many new wireless routers can be had for ~$30, take about
5 minutes to flash with OpenWRT, and have a USB2 port for connecting a
printer, scanner, or USB hub with both.  OpenWRT not only has all the
software for sharing printers and scanners packaged, but makes them
pretty easy to admin from a web interface too.

Anything with a USB port should meet your needs.
