We run lots of Silicon Mechanics servers, which are pre-built Supermicro systems. We rarely have issues with drivers, and we're running CentOS 5.7.

I've set up several Supermicro boxes with Ubuntu and never had any issues and highly recommend them. They've become our standard. If you are concerned about compatibility give them a call. When I had some questions while I was shopping around they were very helpful.

Have a problem at one of our sites, .. need to build a new server. It looks like Supermicro is the only tower chassis readily available [at least on NewEgg] with dual power supplies - anyone have other options? Never dealt with 'chassis/mb' combos myself, ...

What concerns me are drivers - they show MB RAID, and even some Matrox video cards. If we have to go Supermicro, has anyone verified a config that will support, say, current Debian?

       Thanks!
