I've got a new Trendnet TE100-P1U print server. I've got it working in
Windows and am now trying to get it working on my Fedora 15 box.
cups (localhost:631/admin/)=> Add Printer =>Discovered Network Printers:
PS-742289-U1 => I selected the PS-... and Continue => I entered name,
location and cups had the Connection:
Name: Brother-HL1440-Network
Location: Trendnet Networked Server
Connection: dnssd://PS-742289-U1._printer._tcp.local/
=>Next:
Shows these drivers for Brother HL-1440:
Brother HL-1440 -CUPS + Gutenprint v5.2.5 (en)
Brother HL-1440 -CUPS + Gutenprint v5.2.7 Simplified (en)
Brother HL-1440 Foomatic/hl1250 (en)
Brother HL-1440 Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e(en)
Brother HL-1440 Foomatic/lj4dith (en)
Brother HL-1440 Foomatic/ljet4 (en)
Selected Foomatic/hl1250 (en) and continued. Printer shows as installed
and shows up as an option in gedit, but then the job hangs at
"Connecting to printer...".
I selected the hl1250 driver because that's what is working for the
USB-installation on the Fedora box. Should I be selecting a different
driver? Or am I missing something else? Cups seems to see the connection
("Connection: dnssd://PS-742289-U1._printer._tcp.local/") but not able
to make the connection, or something like that. There doesn't seem any
place in the setup for me to enter the IP address of the server.
Deleted printer and re-installed, using "Gutenprint v5.2.5 (en). Same
result: print job hangs at "Connecting to printer..."
Modified printer--added "Description": Brother HL-1440-Network.
Same result: not connecting to the printer.
What am I missing?
Thanks.
