I recently installed Xubuntu on a 10 year old PC. With 128MB of RAM is
was useless. With 256MB it could run a web browser fine - it could
even run YouTube videos as long as you didn't move the mouse. I guess
what I'm saying is if it has 256 or 512MB of RAM you should be fine
with an XFCE-based Linux.
If you want to try Xubuntu, you'll need a PowerPC build. Here is a
