Nope the movement from the GNOME2 stack to the GNOME3 is [or can be]
incremental.
Gtk2 -> Gtk3 [this also changes how themes are managed]
GConf -> GSettings & DConf
Applets -> Extensions
Addition of Zeitgeist support
For awhile there will be a mix of old and new.
