3G for Xfinity is provided by Sprint (and Virgin, same company) and use
the same network.  Sprint & Alltel (now Verizon) have reciprocal roaming
agreements with each other that expire within 5 years or so.  There's a
good chance you may be using Verizon's towers if Sprint lacks adequate
coverage in your area anyway.  Things won't be any better on Verizon.
If you can't get Xfinity 4G, they use Clearwire for that.
