If you're in the Grand Rapids area there are a couple of places that are 
both vendors of used gear and recyclers of ancient and broken gear. 
Comp-Renew is downtown, and there's another called V-Tech, I think, that 
is somewhere in the Southern sprawl. Comp-Renew takes most things for 
free (at least if you're not a business) and ecologically recycles what 
they can't resell. I'm actually expecting a trip down there fairly soon 
as I also have a bunch of old and broken stuff.
