Well, not to beat this to death, but there
are then really three MI's then - the UP sees
itself as being exploited by the LP, and
essentially a separate entity.

But all boats will float together, or not at
all.  The tax people in Lansing will make
sure of that. So if the western part of the
state were to recover some, the eastern
part will get its skim.

For now, MI is in a horse race with NV
for the worst economy.  And the improving
unemployment rate in MI might be in part
because young people with skills are moving
to states that have real economies, and jobs.

Give Snyder a year, and then we'll know
whether MI is the new MS, or whether it
can come back in some new form.  Federal
tax money thrown at the burned out GM and
Chrysler shells won't do it.
