[GRLUG] trouble formatting Lenovo computer for Ubuntu install

WELL THAT TIME IT WORK. USED A DIFFERENT USB CABLE FOR THE DVD DRIVE.
(YES--THE FIRST ONE IS ALSO USB 2.) 

HOPE THIS SERIES OF NOTES HASN'T BEEN TOO MUCH BOTHER FOR PEOPLE.
