Does anything print out on boot? Usually the problem is that grub
doesn't know the drive from the perspective of the BIOS. If grub thinks
/dev/sda is the 2nd hard disk (hd1), but your BIOS thinks it's the 1st
hard disk (hd0), grub will look in the wrong place when it tries to
boot. Check the list of devices in /boot/grub/device.map.
