I've run Linux Mint Debian Edition (or "real Linux" as I call it) from
the live DVD. It's what Ubuntu should have been. It uses the standard
Debian repositories plus a Mint Debian repository that only contains
about 25-30 apps (that's from memory). That translates into ~120
packages (various language versions of Firefox, for example). It's
about 99% real Debian, with a lot of hardware configuration and codecs
out of the box. I'm about as pro-Debian as one could get but I'm
strongly considering switching. The default theme, however, *must go*.
Bleh. I think it's worse than the naked Ubuntu people years ago. ;-)
