I've used Dreamhost for years and have been very happy. I'd pay a LOT to
not use GoDaddy. They've been extraordinarily predatory in their domain
sniffing practices, very friendly to spammers, and use sex as their
primary marketing tool. No thanks.
Dreamhost is $10/yr for a domain I think. What's interesting is that they
also offer $15/yr signed ssl certificates, and you can take them anywhere,
they're not just for dreamhost.
It's kind of a protest against crazy prices, they have a good blog post
