Here's an update.  I got my keys working, and the keyboard is awesome. 
Instructions on how to use xmodmap vary wildy, and most of what I found 
online didn't work for me, even sites claiming to have the same board as 
me, and trying to set the same things.

I started pretty simple, just making the Command key into a Control key. I 
did the same thing to Caps Lock.  I put this into .Xmodmap .

remove control = Control_L Control_R
keycode 133=Control_L
keycode 66=Control_L
keycode 134=Control_R
add control = Control_L Control_R
