Yes, that's a big hurdle. You'd need to charge at something like 10,000 
A/h to fill up a battery at the same speed you can fill up a gas tank. 
Needless to say that's both dangerous and insane to try to charge at 
that rate. Waste generated by batteries is usually pretty low. The 
charging time is a much bigger problem in my eyes.
