[GRLUG] mke2fs issue

It's certainly unusual to apply a filesystem to a device.

However, as I recall, proper application of md obviates the need for
filesystems on each device.  You're supposed to build the filesystem
on the raid device created by md, not on the component drives.

I haven't done it in a couple years, so I could be wrong. (But I don't
think I am...)
