Because the official Firefox / Thunderbird branding (artwork, name,
etc.) are trademarked, and carry very restrictive rules for
redistribution (all patches must be vetted by mozilla.com, and only
patches that do a certain few things (improve distro integration
mainly) will be allowed).

It's the same reason CentOS can't call itself Red Hat - Free Edition!
