Because Debian cannot support the "Branded" versions properly without
running afoul of the Copyrighted work that the Mozilla Corporation
foisted upon them.

If you *REALLY* want to understand, read the Debian Free Software Guide
(DFSG) and then read the discussions on Debian Legal about it... the
discussions oozed into Debian Devel and Debian User.

Basically, it comes down to the fact, that in order to be a "Branded"
version of the said programs, the Mozilla corporation feels it *MUST*
protect and control all changes and code snippet patches and must go
through a process with which Debian doesn't agree with. They (the
Mozilla Corp) doesn't want to "spoil" the user experience and Brand
they've built up now...

Novell's Directory Services is a competitive product to Microsoft's
Active Directory in much the same way that the Saturn V is a competitive
product to those dinky little model rockets that kids light off down at
the playfield. -- Thane Walkup
