Just for the heck of it, backup the conf file then  comment out the sections
for the other devices/scanners, but yours.   Oh, install these:

sudo apt-get install sane sane-utils libsane xsane libusb

just to get the usual stuff.  Then, run "sane-find-scanner" and report what
you find.  Finally, when you have all that installed, run "lsusb" and see if
your scanner is listed.  Please post results.
