[GRLUG] mobo wanted

Asus motherboard. AMD CPU. 3 slots. Alas, I don't
have the manual for the motherboard. But of course
you won't get one at VC Tech either...

Just a side comment, in my recent experience you
might have to hit VC Tech a few times. Much of what
they have up front now are real clunkers. 500 MHz
units with about 128MB of memory. i.e. old.

I'm not sure what they are up to. There always seem
to be a lot of people there looking through stuff, and
my suspicion is that VC Tech itself is starting to do
some cherry picking. Laptops have gotten expensive,
and they are not on site to look at. I can guess they
are setting aside the better desktops too, given the
junk on display, but have no real evidence for that.
The guy at the front seems to have boxes of memory
sticks, and yet most of the machines on display have
128MB in them. My guess is that the new gimmick
is to take the memory out, and then sell you some
if you want more, even though a machine might have
had more in it in the first place. 512MB was common
in the machines on display when I first went there.

Anyway, to the extent they'll let you, you really have
to dig now.
