I am having issues getting audio to work in Dapper. Audio via Video
works with Xine, but I can't get ogg or mp3's or streaming audio to play
with Amarok, Kaffeine or KsCD.

Here's some output from my system:

zdennis at silver:~/Desktop$ lspci | grep audio
0000:00:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation MCP2S AC'97
Audio Controller (rev a1)

zdennis at silver:~/Desktop$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [CK8 ]: NFORCE - NVidia CK8
                     NVidia CK8 with ALC655 at 0xe0004000, irq 193

In KDE I have ensured the following:
 - the sound system is enabled
 - the audio device is autodetected (although i have tried manually
specifying OSS and ALSA)

I am running the stock kernel:

zdennis at silver:~/Desktop$ uname -a
Linux silver 2.6.15-23-k7 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 23 14:20:54 UTC 2006
i686 GNU/Linux

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I know Dapper isn't officially
released yet so maybe this is a bug they are working on, or maybe I just
need to recompile my kernel with better sound support.
