I have a friend of mine, who is very non-technical, to use Kubuntu. I would
recommend using the alternate disk for the install because of the issue
mentioned here:
http://blogs.mktec.com/zdennis/articles/2006/07/18/kubuntu-dapper-install-cd-simple-issues.
Kubuntu comes with a lot of pre-installed software and has a painless update
process (it even notifies the user when updates are available). I would
highly recommend using it, especially if you are going to have non-technical
people using it.
