Topher,

I have to disagree that Debian is way behind the curve. Debian's stable
version is designed to be the most rock solid distro out there for
administrators that want to throw up a box and forget about it until a
piece of hardware blows up in it. It is not designed to be bleeding
edge, it is designed for stability and security. Bleeding edge distros
are usually full of bugs and security issues. Unlike most other
distros, Debian maintains three versions: stable, testing, and
unstable. If you want to run the bleeding edge Debian system, all you
have to do is change "stable" to "testing" or "unstable" in your
/etc/apt/sources.list and then run a apt-get update ; apt-get -f
dist-upgrade. If you choose unstable you will have the latest "bleeding
edge" version of everything with bugs and all! I find that running
Debian testing on my desktop gives me pretty much the latest software
with most of the security and stability of the "stable" version. I even
run Debian testing on my personal server and I never have to touch it.

Just my two cents.
