</span>Sounds like the root question is not how to edit files but how to<br>
deploying code. For that, they probably should be editing locally<br>
(using Atom or whatever they want) and then deploying (e.g.<br>
quick-and-dirty rsync over ssh). Throw in git for easy reverting.<br>
On-site editing of code, configurations, settings, etc. should<br>
probably be discouraged.<br>
