Let me know what you think of Skyrim. I logged a few hours but couldnt get into it.

On Thu, Jul 26, 2012 at 1:01 PM, Collin Kidder <collink@kkmfg.com> wrote:
Well...I'm an idiot. Before I get to that...

PLayOnLinux is a remarkable app. I love the ability to install multiple
versions of WINE (32bit & 64bit!) from within the program. In my very
limited experience it blows away the commercial CodeWeavers stuff
(interface, ease of use, etc.).

Back to my idiocy. I could get the game installed just fine with
CrossOver and with PlayOnLinux. It crashed on startup each and every
time. In PlayOnLinux I enabled debugging and decided to walk through
each error message and duckduckgo.com. The first error message
complained of not having OpenGL extensions. Bullocks, I thought. I'm
running nVidia's binary stuff. I found a page where a person with a
similar problem needed to update a library (something-ia32-something) so
I quickly did a `dpkg -l *ia32*'. libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 was not
installed so I installed it.

And the game works just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. They pushed me in the right direction.
Sweet! I'm sure you used to be an adventurer before you took an arrow to the knee. I hope your son has a blast.
