I suppose it is possible that the partition table is messed up. You can use a tool like TestDisk (<a href="http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk">http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk</a>) to scan for partitions.<br><br>

You can fdisk the drive [don't overwrite, obviously] and see what's configured. You don't mount a drive (i.e. /dev/hdb), you DO have to mount the partition (/dev/hdb1).<br>
