But then its value is only as good as its comparative efficiency wrt<br>
other plug-in options. And even that has to be compared to efficiency<br>
of artificial hydrocarbon fuels.<br>

The problem with the "air car" is that people see it as a way
to get<br>
something (transportation) using something like "air" as a fuel.<br>
Every person who has ever tried to make the case for the air (or<br>
water) car to me hasn't realized or believed that both approaches<br>
require energy to prepare their "fuel", either by compressing
the air<br>
or splitting the water.<br>
