I thought I'd mention another option. I was a long time MythTV user and I've switched over to just running Ubuntu on a PC connected to my 46" display. I use a RF keyboard/mouse. I use Ted and Ktorrent to download TV episodes and I like it quite a lot. Ted is a java applet that searches the torrent sites for TV shows and keeps track of what episodes it has downloaded. I prefer it over the MythTv option because I can watch TV shows plus I have a full desktop in the living room.
