Trying to get a Zebra label printer working properly with CUPS - it fails
to rotate the label to landscape no matter what orientation is selected in
the app (LO Writer, in this case).

I see some notes about adding a "FILTER" to "CUPS", .. but no examples.
Anyone ever printed to Zebra, .. or added a filter to CUPS?

Yes, have a bunch of them.

So you are getting labels printed but they are oriented incorrectly?  
You [or LO] are submitting the job to CUPS as Postscript?
Your printers support ZPL, or what version are they?

Trying to help a friend that likes to do everything in a spreadsheet, ..
he wants to be able to click a cell and move focus to another cell on the
current sheet.

"Hyperlinks" open a new tab, .. and I cannot find any way to link to the
current page.

Anyone found a way to do this?

It's not supported,  but a few work arounds.

Trying to come up with a *simple* way to manage a dedicated Samba box,
.. would prefer to KISS as much as possible.

I have run across a few notes about authentication against system users &
passwords, but nothing definitive - most are old, Samba 3, whereas
distros today are shipping with Samba 4.

Is this a reasonable idea? If so, no additional tool would be needed - I
have done docs more than once for non-tech admins to manage system users
with Yast.

Which would be Samba 4;  it is an out-of-the-box DC.  Creating a domain
takes minutes, and everything with Windows just-works.

Yes.

It is managing an Active Directory domain, there are piles of
documentation.  Everything will integrate with AD (it is LDAP &
Kerberos).  LDAP & Kerberos are now the standards for *everything*; 
 everything else is a legacy hanger-on.
