Some here might enjoy this.  Started
in 1992, it's mostly historical now.

GNU's hurd hasn't materialized in something
like 25 years.  Mike Bushnell worked on it,
collided with Stallman, changed his name to
Thomas, and is now a monk or some such
thing, although he still does software.  I have
no idea where the hurd stands, might ever go,
etc.  Minix doesn't seem like a serious contender
for a GNU kernel.
