I thought it was rather amusing to read the 'GRLUG Site' thread extolling
the virtues of a community managed (more or less) group, followed shortly by
a flamewar on off-topic posts. Like it or not community forums are going to
suffer the same consequences as free speech. i.e. Someone IS going to say
something completely off the point, disagreeable, or downright dumb. I don't
think that means we need to outlaw off-topic posts, I think the occasional
community backlash such as this is the control. Ugly maybe, but necessary.
So.. let's try to be more considerate of people who want the topic to remain
on topic, since this is after all what they signed up for.
