[GRLUG] nVidia HDMI audio

I cannot get HDMI audio to play on my tv from Debian (LMDE). I have a
System76 laptop with an nVidia GTX 460M video card. I kept the
preinstalled Ubuntu in a partition for testing purposes and have kept it
upgraded.

It took some tinkering but I am able to get HDMI audio from the Ubuntu
install. In order to do so I had to change "Settings for the Selected
Device" to "Digital Stereo (HDMI) nr 2 output".

Under Debian I get no such option. The PA volume meter for HDMI shows
sound coming out but I get nothing from the television set I am
connected to.

I'm lost. Anyone have a clue?
