My laptop's integrated sound card no longer works so I have a USB sound
card that works fine.  I, too, have to reboot occasionally to get it to
work.  Bleh.  I hate that.  Well, I shouldn't say I *have* to reboot; I
don't know how to troubleshoot it sufficiently to fix the problem and my
laptop boots up in under 30 seconds.
