Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  In particular, I'm referring to 
the quality of your transcodes. Which codec you transcode to, the frame 
size of your data, as well as the quality settings you use all combine 
to make for a rather dramatic speed/quality tradeoff.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do GUI web browsing at 800x600.  At that 
resolution, I'm sticking to an xterm with somewhere between 6-8pt font.
